Abstract:Being deserted five hundred years ago while being prosperous nowadays.Since Han River's diversion from North Guishan Hill into Yangtze River in Chonghua Period of Ming Dynasty，the areas which once belonged to Hanyang Government were separated.The wide area which is a lake reeds island near Han River in the south and directs to Fu River in the north has finally become one of the four important business center-the famous town Hankou-by the reclamation of the previous generations.During the evolvement of Hankou's urbanization，the economic activity based on Han River docks has been an important driving force.Hankou culture formed by dock economy has usually been called the “dock culture”.The definition，the reasons and the elements for the dock culture have always been the heated issues in academic circle.Therefore，although nowadays many old docks in Hankou have disappeared and the former sites of the docks have changed into the beautiful river beach，it is still necessary to examine the ecology of the old docks in Hankou and explore the original culture，because it is helpful to directly face the history of current Hankou culture and understand the diversity of Wuhan culture.
