澳门旅游休闲产业：现状、问题与趋势

Abstract:With the downturn of the gaming sector as well as the drive to construct a “world-class tourism and leisure centre”，the economy of tourism leisure has increasingly gained in importance in Macao. A systematic examination of Macao’s extant major tourism leisure environment and facilities reveals that the inventory of its leisure products or services is sufficiently competitive. There also exists great potential for further expansion in future. At present，more attention should be paid to the optimization of the visitor structure through deliberate market strategies，seeking to considerably enlarge the proportion of leisure-oriented visitors. In the meantime，local residents’ demand for leisure must be satisfied and quality of life maintained at a reasonable level. A range of suggestions are put forward，including targeting leisure-oriented visitors in market development，enhancing information services to facilitate the establishment of the new destination image，changing Macao from a secondary to a primary destination，increasing the number of overnight visitors and prolonging their length of stay，coping with the constraints as imposed by limited carrying capacity，and strengthening the collaboration between Macao and its neighbours in the Pearl River Delta Region.
