Abstract:The most remarkable event in 2019 in Japan is the abdication of Emperor Akihito and the accession of Emperor Naruhito. So far two types of chronologic systems including the Gregorian calendar system and the Japanese era name（gengō）system have been carried out in Japan. The abdication and accession of two emperors brings an end to the Heisei Era and marks the beginning of the new Reiwa era. In the process，the Abe administration plays an active role in attempting to make use of the opportunity and get support for promoting its conservative politics. The economic operation and social development in Japan are also inevitably affected by the change，and even Japan’s national spirit and cultural values are also influenced and take on new features. It is recommended，for the cultural implication of the Reiwa era，that Japan should move in the direction of building up a peace and prosperous country with great social welfare，which will serve for the interest for all Japanese people and be most suitable for Japan in finding its way to make its social development health and sustainable.
