Abstract:2018 was an important year for the Western Balkans’ EU accession. The EU’s Western Balkans Enlargement strategy，which was adopted in February，has promised positive prospects for EU accession and gave a rough time frame. However，at the EU-Western Balkans Sofia Summit in May and the “Berlin Process” London Summit in July，France and the United Kingdom reiterated cautious and conservative position towards the expansion of the EU，although the EU also expressed its positive attitude of welcoming the Western Balkans to the Union. After experiencing hope and slowdown，the Western Balkans’ EU accession process did not seem to have made significant progress in 2018.
