Abstract:In 2017，around the goal of basically realizing educational modernization，China's education entered a stage of overall reform fortification. With the convening of the 19th Communist Party of China National Congress a series of educational plans and policies toward 2035 have been introduced. Moreover，new development strategies and directions are gradually emerging. With new developments in recent years，China's education system and society in general have entered a new era and are facing more complicated reform obstacles and differences of interest. The new developments include： solving the deep-seated problems in rural education with dropout reduction as the key，popularizing high school education，improving the quality and attractiveness of secondary vocational education，summarizing and deepening reform of the examination and admission system，and promoting the balanced development of higher education. With challenges in areas such as having universal access to pre-school education，reducing dropout rate during the nine years of compulsory education，and developing a college admission system with Chinese characteristics，China's education system needs to open up，expand supply and deepen its comprehensive reform.
