Abstract:Energy and water resources are the important basis for the development of human civilization，and hydropower development is countries in solving the problem of energy is also an important cause to solve the problem of water resources. China is rich in hydropower resources，and development has obvious achievement by exploiting later. Therefore，the achievements of China’s hydropower development，currently has a leading position in the world，but in the development and utilization degree，the gap between China and developed countries have bigger. This article from the resources，function and status quo of China’s hydropower development，as well as the existing problems and the suggestions to solve the problem and so on were discussed.
