Abstract:There are good basis and willingness for cooperation of both conventional and non-conventional energy resources between China and Canada. Such cooperation can help China，a big consumer of energy，to cope with the pressure of energy security with the exhaustion of energy resources，and meanwhile，it can also help Canada to solve the problem of single export channel as America is moving in a direction of energy independence. However，the simple wish of China to increase cooperation with Canada and expand the scale of energy investment there can be easily interpreted as hostile political intention，so the economic issue is politicized and it will certainly bring resistance of cooperation. Besides，America has been very alarmed about China’s close relationship of investing and trading with Canada and other America’s neighboring countries by its increasingly stronger economic power. Thus，it’s necessary for China to seize the chance more proactively by making full use of advantages to reduce the negative impact of disruptive factors.
