Abstract:Putin’s visits to Africa in March and September 2006 formed the turning points of Russian-African relations that have been getting warmer and warmer. Since then，Russia has been pulling in its relations with Africa through high-level visits，increased aid and debt relief，which has shown a trend of “return” to Africa. The distinctive feature of Russia-Africa relations，at present，is characterized of：forming practical economic and trade cooperation；deepening Russia-Africa economic relations by regarding South Africa as the fulcrum，with the cooperation areas including mineral resource exploration and development，agricultural machinery and construction，etc. Another milestone in the history of Russia-Africa relations is the Russia-South Africa Strategic Partnership established in 2013. Although the prospects of cooperation between Russia and African countries are bright，their progress is relatively slow.
