Abstract:The global marine ecosystem represents an interconnected entity，and the protection of marine ecological environment poses a transboundary challenge. International cooperation plays an indispensable role in the maintenance of the global marine ecosystem. China has adopted a series of proactive measures in the domains of marine ecological environment protection and international collaboration. These measures encompass active participation in numerous international organizations dedicated to marine environmental protection，established under the auspices of the United Nations，as well as adherence to international conventions and seminal documents pertaining to marine environmental protection，such as the Agenda 21，the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change，the Convention on Biological Diversity. As of 2022，China has emerged as a pivotal member and partner within the United Nations and various regional international cooperation organizations focusing on marine affairs.Concurrently，the Chinese government has engaged in extensive intergovernmental cooperation，establishing multilateral and bilateral mechanisms for marine environmental protection with countries including Japan，South Korea，Russia，the United States，France，and ASEAN member states. These endeavors have led to the refinement of collaborative initiatives，such as the Action Plan for the Protection，Management and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Northwest Pacific Region，contributing to the establishment of comprehensive frameworks for regional marine environmental protection. Furthermore，the Chinese government has actively promoted international scientific research cooperation. As of 2022，Chinese research institutions had cultivated robust international collaborations with over 50 marine science research institutions spanning multiple nations.
