Abstract:In recent years, driven by data, algorithms and computing power, the development of generative artificial intelligence has entered an explosive period, and related applications have rapidly expanded in various industries. The development of artificial intelligence technology not only brings convenience to the social life of the elderly, but also expands the intergenerational digital divide. Providing digital literacy education for the elderly is an important mission of public libraries in the artificial intelligence age and many foreign public libraries have achieved great results in improving the digital literacy of the elderly through digital literacy education, and their practical experience has important practical reference value for the relevant deployment of domestic public libraries. Taking public libraries in the United States, the United Kingdom,Australia,Singapore and Japan as the research objects, this paper uses the network survey method to investigate the progress of digital literacy education for the elderly from the aspects of laws, policies and projects,so as to extract practical experience and provide practical reference for public digital literacy education for the elderly in public libraries in China. It has important practical guiding significance for bridging the digital divide of the elderly, which not only helps to promote social progress, but also serves as part of the topic of jointly building a harmonious society.
