Abstract:This article expands and updates the urban green and low-carbon evaluation index system by selecting new indicators and using new calculation methods, and evaluates 189 cities in China in 2022. This study found that pilot cities continue to maintain their advantages, and leading pilot cities perform best. From a regional perspective, the overall urban comprehensive index in 2022 shows a trend from high to low, mainly in the eastern, central, northeastern, and western regions. From the perspective of the north and south, the comprehensive index of cities in the south is significantly higher than that in the north. From a multidimensional perspective, the internal differences in the dual carbon trend are the largest, while the internal differences in industrial upgrading are the smallest. From the perspective of weaknesses, the energy transformation has the most obvious weaknesses. This article analyzes the relationship between economic development and green and low-carbon index, and finds that the higher the level of urban economic development, the more significant the promoting effect on green and low-carbon development. This article suggests that in the future, green investment should be increased in relatively developed regions, investment efficiency should be improved, and demonstration roles should be played;Deepen the construction of pilot cities and promote the upgrading of low-carbon pilot projects to green development and inclusive economic growth pilot projects;Build an intercity cooperation mechanism, create low-carbon pilot projects for north-south assistance, and promote orderly carbon peaking and carbon neutrality under the overall layout of the whole country.
