区域国别视角下的“东南亚学”学科建设

Abstract:Southeast Asian Studies is an important branch of Area Studies. According to the foreign experiences of academic development，academic research should be given the highest priority in the discipline building of Southeast Asian Studies or Area Studies as a whole. The most internationally popular Area Studies institution is trans-departmental center，institute or program which doesn’t have its own full-time teachers and students but attract teachers and students with organizing academic activities from relevant departments on the campus. Trans-departmental research institution is the most proper organizational form for advancing not only area studies，but also academic development of subjects in humanities，social science and even natural sciences. It displays area studies’ characteristics of trans-discipline to the full. The rise and development of area studies in other countries is the fruits of painstaking planning by academic associations，universities and government agencies. However，what is the distinct shortcoming in the process of promoting area studies in China recently is the absence of careful and thorough planning.
