Abstract:The constuction towards a more comprehensive genealogy of knowledge has become one of the key agendas of China’s International and Regional Studies. The International and Regional Studies have been assgined the status of interdicipline in China’s higher education system which indicates China’s vision for long-term academic construction plan,and it has acquired the institutional guarantee. The experience of the current Area Studies shows that the necessities of its solid “scientific” basis is of great significance to the evolution of “International and Regional Studies” in China,and it strengthens the importance of the agenda to establish an international knowledge production mechanism with Chinese characteristics. As a component of Area Studies,Southeast Asian Studies are inherently a dynamic local knowledge. To establish a relatively independent genealogy of knowledge,Southeast Asian Studies in China would undertake the following tasks:firstly,to clarify key knowledge boundaries of Southeast Asian Studies;secondly,to strengthen the active role and devotion of the China school in the field of global Southeast Asian Studies;thirdly,to definite and optimize the production mechanisms of knowledge with Chinese characteristics.
