桂越国际铁路交通线历史文献资料评析

Abstract:The construction of the Guangxi-Vietnam International Railway began in the late 1880s. It failed to open to traffic because France harmed China’s interests after its completion. Abstract:The construction of the Guangxi-Vietnam International Railway began in the late 1880s. It failed to open to traffic because France harmed China’s interests after its completion. During the Anti-Japanese War,in order to bring international aid materials to China,the ROC government organized forces to build the Xiang-Gui Railway and Qian-Gui Railway,linking Vietnam via Zhen Nan Guan in Guangxi. When it was about to open to traffic,the Japanese army launched the Battle of Southern Gui,cutting off this line of communication. Once again the transportation lost the function. The Treaty of Tientsin (1885),Longzhou-Zhennanguan Railway Contract (1896),and Longzhou-Zhennanguan Renewal Railway Contract(1899) between China and France,and important figures from the transportation department of the ROC government participating in the decision to build the railway,all recorded this process in different forms. The ministry of foreign affairs and social media also left many records about this affair. These data reveal the tortuous development process of the construction and the fate of being bullied by the great powers in China and Vietnam. The historical and documentary value is extraordinary and deserve attention.
