Abstract:In 2020-2021,the continued COVID-19 spread gave a heavy blow to the world economy. The impact of the epidemic on world trade is gradually expanding as the global trade volume hardly rebounds after decline for two consecutive years. In the midst of the general global economic downturn,China has continued to demonstrate its role as a major power in the world trade, providing an important engine for global trade recovery and growth. Under the economic development strategy featuring “dual circulation”,the construction of the Belt and Road and the construction of free trade zones have advanced in parallel. Anti-epidemic supplies have been shipped from China to countries along the Belt and Road, interpreting in practice the concept of a community of shared future for humankind. The scale of trade between China and countries along the Belt and Road has bucked the trend and rendered an increase, and the share and status of countries along the Belt and Road in China’s foreign trade has risen significantly. The huge production capacity and market have further elevated China’s position at the center of the Belt and Road and in the global production network. As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement entered into force on January 1,2022,China’s trade with countries along the Belt and Road and in the Asia-Pacific region has stepped into a brand new era. The rapid development of cross-border e-commerce and logistics and the wide application of digital trade have made the trade between China and countries along the Belt and Road more secure and efficient, providing new possibilities and directions for the sustainable development of the world economy.
