Abstract:The Yangtze River Economic Belt（YREB）is the main battlefield of China’s ecological priority green development. In recent years，the provinces and cities in the YREB have actively promoted the improvement of the ecological environment and promoted the overall green transformation of economic and social development. The ecological and environmental protection of the YREB has undergone turning changes. In 2020，the YREB has actively strengthened ecosystem restoration，fight for pollution prevention and control，improved environmental supervision capabilities，promoted green and low-carbon development，and strengthened the Yangtze River coastline. The level of ecological environment development in the YREB has be further improved. A broad consensus has been formed for major protection. The environmental quality of the Yangtze River was continuing to improve，and the deterioration of the ecological environment has been initially curbed. Also，the efficiency of resource utilization has been steadily improved. Through establishing the ecological green development indicator system，the paper evaluated the ecological green development level of the YREB. We found that the green development level of the YREB presents an characteristics of phase distribution，but the green development gap of various provinces and cities has narrowed overall. The western region has advantages in the green ecological field，and the eastern region has obvious advantages in the green production field. The level of green living in the eastern，central and western regions was relatively close，while the green production field has large differences. The YREB needs to further improve the ecological environment protection mechanism，promote high-standard protection，and achieve high-quality development.
