Abstract:In 2021，China’s border security situation is showing the following new characteristics：First，the border security situation around China has become more complicated and variable due to the intensified strategic competition between China and the United States. Second，The relations between neighboring powers have entered a period of in-depth adjustment，and their mutual competition，cooperation，and confrontation are superimposed on each other，and the trend is complicated. Third，Neighboring small and medium-sized countries seek to increase their strategic autonomy，are committed to maintaining a balance in the competition between big powers，and hope to adapt to changes with flexible and changeable policies. Fourth，the hotspot such as Korean nuclear issue，South China Sea situation，China-India border dispute，Myanmar，Afghanistan have become more complex，and the prospects are unpredictable. Fifth，As China continues to rise，China’s ability to actively shape the Border security environment has increased significantly.
