Abstract:The world is undergoing a great change that did not happen in the last century. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the great change，and the international pattern is undergoing profound adjustment. The world is entering a period of turbulence and change. The competition among big powers intensifies，regional problems still exist，geopolitical complexity highlights，and security risks rise. At present，the surrounding situation is basically stable，regional hot issues are generally under control，and there is no major reversal. Peace，development，cooperation and win-win situation are still the mainstream. China and its neighboring countries are striving to create a new situation of win-win and sharing，but still face some risks and challenges. To this end，we need to comprehensively promote the layout of neighboring diplomacy，continue to follow the principles of amity，sincerity，mutual benefit and inclusiveness in conducting neighboring diplomacy to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative in high quality and build the community of common destiny between China and its neighbors. Under the continuing impact of the COVID-19 outbreak，there will be five major trends in the relations between China and neighboring countries that deserve attention：Cooperation in fighting the epidemic remains an important choice for China and its neighbors in 2021；China and neighboring countries will pay more attention to security cooperation；The economic cooperation in the neighboring regions will accelerate；The cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and neighboring countries will continue to heat up；The influence of the United States on China’s neighboring regions will continue to rise.
