Abstract:Australia plays an active role in handling bilateral relations，regional cooperation and global affairs as an active middle power in the Asia Pacific region. This paper will analyze the foreign policy decision-making mechanism of Australia，so as to present the composition and operation characteristics of each component of the mechanism in a panoramic manner. Australia’s foreign policy decision-making is characterized by its hierarchy，openness and diversity of participants. In this process，the Prime Minister is the highest decision-maker，and the administration and bureaucracy are the actual makers and enforcers. In addition，as an open society，Australia is subject to the direct or indirect influence of intelligence agencies，interest groups，think tanks and media in terms of its foreign policy decision-making.
