Abstract:Surrounding approval of the four proposals that would decide whether Iran could join the FATF or not，the Iranian ruling clique split into two opposite camps：supporters from the Ruhani government and moderates，who push Iran to join the organization，whereas the religious top，the IRGC high officers and the hard-line parliamentarian are fiercely opposed to Iran’s accession. They not only obstruct the passage of the bills through Guardianship agencies like the Guardian Council and the Expediency Discernment Council，but also pressured the supporters through Friday prayer forums，the dominant Medias in control and street demonstrations. The fierce struggle around joining the FATF vividly reflects the current political ecology of Iran and highlights the contradiction between the constitutional mechanism and the guardianship power.
