2019～2020年中东地区政治安全形势评估

Abstract:Hotspot issues occurred in the Middle East from August 2019 to August 2020. The assassination of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard general by the U.S. has escalated the conflict between the two countries. The Syrian province of Idlib has come under the spotlight after Turkey stepped up its military intervention on the Syrian-Turkish border. With direct military assistance from Turkey，the Libyan Government of National Accord successfully countered the Libyan National Army. The deadlock over Israel’s cabinet has been broken，the two main political contenders have made peace for a while，and Israel’s aggressive foreign policy has increased tensions between the Palestinians and the Israelis. The United States has reached a peace deal with the Afghan Taliban，but the political reconciliation process in Afghanistan is still in the dark. In the Middle East，the game between big powers outside the region and the competition between regional powers overlap，and the economic and people’s livelihood issues within countries become more and more prominent. At the same time，the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 has brought greater uncertainty to regional security and greater challenges to domestic governance.
