2019 is a special year for Kazakhstan. After years of discussions on the transfer of power，Tokayev became the second president since their independence. Despite some protests，the power transition has been smooth and orderly so far. Though Nazarbayev was “retired”，he continued to play the role of stabilizer. Against the background of the international economic slowdown，Kazakhstan’s economy growth has maintained a medium-to-high speed. The new government has introduced effective reforms to improve its business environment and attract more investment. Diplomatically，Kazakhstan continues to pursue pluralistic and balanced diplomacy. On one hand，it promote the pragmatic cooperation with the US and Europe while developing traditional friendly relations with Russia. China and Kazakhstan have entered a new phase of permanent comprehensive strategic partnership and their cooperation has made great progress.
