Abstract:France，an important actor in global climate governance，is actively involving itself in international climate negotiations and at the same time accelerating the domestic energy and ecological transition. Since 2015，the year in which the Paris Agreement（COP21）was signed，Presidents François Hollande and Emmanuel Macron have put forward environmental policy in both diplomacy and domestic politics. During his election campaign and after taking office，President Macron made many environmentally friendly speeches expressing his ambitions on the environmental front. However，most of the commitments in this area have not been realized and have raised doubts and criticism from intellectuals and the general public. The future of French environmental and climate policy is still uncertain.
