Abstract:In May 2017，the Fifth Republic of France welcomed the youngest president in history，Emmanuel Macron. During his election，Macron’s political program involving immigrants and refugees was moderate. He advocated the integration of legal immigrants and the repatriation of refugees whose asylum applications had been rejected. Under the background of the rising national sentiment and the constant conflict of social contradictions in France，Macron began his administration career and the reform of immigrant and refugee policies. In August 2018，the new immigration asylum law was passed and caused wide controversy within French society. The provisions of the law show that Macron’s attitude towards immigrants and refugees has gradually hardened since he came into power. It is very likely that french immigration and refugee reception policy will continue to be tightened in the short term.
