马来西亚华人人口变动历程、现状与趋势分析

Abstract:As the second largest overseas Chinese community in the world，the proportion of Malaysian Chinese population has experienced a downward trend in recent years. Based on the analysis of Malaysian Chinese population statistics，this paper studied the process of Malaysian Chinese population changes. The current demographic characteristics，i.e.，the population size and age structure，and changes of Malaysian Chinese had been explained under the framework of demographic transition theory. This paper found that the ethnic gap in the demographic transition process in Malaysia is the main reason for the decline in the proportion of Chinese population. The Chinese population in Malaysia would continue to be declining，while the rate of decline in population would slow down. In response to the population trend of Malaysian Chinese，this paper proposed policy recommendations.
