以色列与日本关系：历史与现状

Abstract:Since the 1950s，the exchanges between Jews and Japan have continued to increase. Although anti-Semitic ideas once emerged in Japan，it never had significant influence. Japan basically pursued a realistic and moderate policy toward Jews. Therefore，the relationship between Jewish people and Japan was relatively good in history. After World War Ⅱ，the “non-intervention” diplomatic principle and energy factors prompted Japan to alienate and even antagonize Israel，so for a long time the relationship between these two countries remained cold. With the end of the Cold War，Japan，under the pressure of the United States，took advantage of the favorable situation following the mollification of Arab-Israeli relations. It actively improved its relations with Israel，and in consequence，Israel-Japan relations heated rapidly. At present，the two countries have frequent high-level exchanges of visits，constant economic and trade exchanges，steady progress in scientific research cooperation，enhanced security cooperation and deepened cultural communications. These activities not only bring benefits to each country，but also enhance their confidence in future cooperation. Nevertheless，Israel-Japan relations face impenetrable obstacles. There is an irreconcilable conflict between Japan’s active Middle East policy and Israel’s strong security demands.
