Abstract:In 2016，despite the complicated economic situations，risks and challenges at home and abroad，and thanks to the concerted efforts of the people，China achieves steady and sound economic development，and sustains stable and healthy trends in economic security，laying a solid foundation for economic development and security for the 13thFive-year period. Meanwhile，numerous major conflicts and problems in current economic development of China inflict various risks and challenges for safeguarding economic security. In particular，some inherent issues affecting economic security have not been fundamentally solved，while new problems of the same kind continue to emerge，posing serious challenges for safeguarding economic security and promoting steady and sound economic development. In light of this，China should consciously stick to the overall security vision，seek steady growth，maintain strategic focus，remain clear-headed，keep systematic thinking and bottom-line thinking，emphasize both security and development，adhere to the principle of reform as well as development，prevent and diffuse various economic risks，and solve deep-seated structural conflicts and problems affecting safe and steady economic operation and sustainable development，so as to create a safe and steady environment for the sustainable development of economy. With concerted efforts of the people throughout the country，China will keep the trend of steady and sound economic development and ensure the national economic security at the same time.
