“一带一路”倡议下的澜湄合作机制

Abstract:The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation（LMC）mechanism is a new sub-regional cooperation mechanism initiated by China，Laos，Cambodia，Thailand，Vietnam and Burma. It aims to promote the development of the sub-regional economy and enhance people’s well-being. The Indochina Peninsula where the other five countries lie in is an important strategy support to promoting “the Belt and Road”. Much progress has been made between China and the other five countries，but LMC also faces many challenges，for example，the old and new mechanisms are crossed and overlapped in this area，the Mekong states’ investment environment is terrible，the non-traditional security situation is severe and the intervention of outside power makes the operation of LMC faces political risks. This paper puts forward some suggestions on the existing problems，including Strengthening strategic docking，focusing on projects of public welfare，optimizing the LMC’s promotion strategy in Indochina Peninsula，properly handling the relationship between old and new mechanisms within this area，diluting the political and geopolitical consciousness and strengthening cooperation in the humanities and Social Sciences. Finally，this paper concludes that，with the continuous improvement and development of LMC，LMC will play an increasingly important role in promoting cooperation among the six countries.
