Abstract:For the Anglo-American special relationship（AASR），2016 was a year of big change. The Brexit and Trump presidency have given rise to a new round of adaption of the AASR under the new circumstances. In the post-Brexit era，the AASR faces both opportunities and challenges. The new opportunities mainly consist of the British Conservative Party’s increasing emphasis on the importance of the AASR，Trump’s tendency to be an Anglophile，the likely success of conclusion of the US-UK bilateral free trade agreement and Trump’s changing stance on NATO. The new challenges mainly include the UK’s decreasing strategic value in the Transatlantic relations，the Trump administration’s de-emphasis on multilateralism and British people’s polarized attitudes towards Trump.
