从《张榕轩侍郎荣哀录》看张煜南的跨域人际网络

Abstract:Zhang Yunan，alias Zhang Rongxuan，was a legendary overseas Chinese entrepreneur and community leader in Nanyang （Southeast Asia）during the late 19th and early 20th century. He was born in 1850 at Meixian county，Guangdong province of China. He traveled to Nanyang in his teens for a living. He became a pioneer of and got rich in Medan，Dutch Indies. He was appointed as a Major，or the Chief of the Chinese，by the Dutch authorities and later as a Chinese Consul in British Penang by the Qing Court of China. He was also summoned to call on the Empress Dowager and Emperor of the Qing Court twice and was applauded by them for his contributions to the motherland and overseas Chinese communities. When he died in 1911，messages of condolences received from overseas and homeland. A Souvenir in Memory of the Late Zhang Rongxuan was compiled. This article is a text analysis of this souvenir volume. We can observe the cross-regional social network of Zhang through the authorship of funeral eulogies and elegiac couplets. This article seeks to have a better understanding of the personalities of Zhang and characteristics of his social network.
