Abstract:In the year 2009-2010 Austria and Switzerland saw a very stable political scene at home. The economic rescue packages of both countries have achieved very fruitful results in spite of the difficulties caused by the global financial and economic crisis since 2008. Switzerland tops once more the overall ranking in the Global Competitiveness Report 2009-2010 issued by the World Economic Forum. Both countries have maintained a steady employment rate since the recession took place，who performance the best in Europe. In the future years they will keep focusing on consolidating economic recovery，reducing financial deficit，and increasing investments on R&D，education and social security，to ensure the healthy and continuous growth of domestic economy. In view of the international relations，Austria and Switzerland are taking an active part in international affairs in pursuit of a peaceful and just world order.
