Abstract:In the period covered by this Report, both Austria and Switzerland enjoyed stable political situations. In late October 2011 a parliamentary election was held in Switzerland. Against the background of the European debt crisis, Austria experienced slower economic growth, but it still had the lowest unemployment rate among the EU countries. The rapid growth of export has played a positive role for the economic growth in Switzerland. In addition, both Austria and Switzerland have focused their efforts on social stability, price level and the issue of immigration. Both countries keep a good relationship with China, reflected not only in the trade and economic field, but in official and non-governmental visits, exchanges and cooperation.
