Abstract:Since Syria’s independence in 1946，its bilateral relation with Iran has evolved and reconfigured from confrontation to the all-encompassing cooperation that lasts to now. Iranian Revolution in 1979 was a watershed in Syria-Iran relation，initiating an ever-deepening course of cooperation between the two sides. Despite political and ideological diversities，driven by converging political and security interests，the two countries have maintained a stable，friendly，and cooperative relationship throughout the last four decades in the changing international and regional situation. Syria needs Iran to realize its geopolitical strategy，while Iran can not escape from regional isolation without Syria’s support，and this bilateral relationship has had a profound impact on the political structure of the Middle East. Syrian civil war in 2011 further deepened the interdependent relationship between the two countries，and with the gradual stabilization of Bashar regime，the relationship will continue to operate at a high level in the future.
