Abstract:In The Bicentennial Man，Asimov demonstrated the rich connotations of personality，especially the basic content of property，freedom，life and human dignity contained within it. Under the framework of modern Anglo-American law，by revealing the process of robot Andrew's obtaining the legal subject qualification，Asimov either explicitly or implicitly proposed the contradictions within The Three Laws of Robotics. However，he does not revise The Three Laws of Robotics，because he intends to tell the potential legislators，through the loss of the unique characteristics of robot Andrew，the negative inclination concerning the possibility and necessity of universally granting robots legal subject qualification. Asimov reflects on the ultimate development of robotics，and regards The Bicentennial Man as his favorite and best-written short story，which reminds and warns in a less harsh and offensive way that，in this era，with the development of artificial intelligence，reaffirming the guarantee of the safety of human beings as a whole and as individuals is and will be the highest duty and highest value of human legislators.
