Abstract:From the late 1980s to the 1990s,Japan established an environmental policy centered on sustainable development through the formulation of a series of legal documents such as the Basic Environment Act,forming a basic environmental policy framework of “coexistence between humanity and nature”. In the 21st century,Japan has not only continued to promote the formulation of action plans and strategic documents related to environmental protection, but has also integrated the concept of “coexistence between humanity and nature” into the overall strategic objectives of environmental policy, thus further upgrading and developing the environmental policy of “coexistence between humanity and nature”. The concept of “coexistence between humanity and nature” has also been incorporated into the overall strategic objectives of environmental policy, further upgrading and developing the environmental policy of “coexistence between humanity and nature”. Under the guidance of the principle of sustainable development,Japan has been actively working towards the goal of building a “society living in coexistence with nature” by improving the environmental legal system, revising the Basic Plan for the Environment, formulating national strategic plans, strengthening environmental impact assessment, promoting environmental education and other measures. At present,Japan is actively exploring new development paths for a “nature-positive economy” with the goal of achieving “carbon neutrality”.
