Abstract:As the first beneficiary of the BRICS membership expansion，South Africa attaches great importance to the BRICS cooperation mechanism and has made great efforts for the successful holding of the 15th BRICS Summit. The biggest highlight of the summit is the historic expansion of BRICS membership，with Egypt，Ethiopia，Saudi Arabia，the United Arab Emirates and Iran becoming new members，pushing BRICS cooperation into a new era. The summit also reached consensus on promoting local currency settlement of trade among BRICS countries，taking a key step towards de-dollarization. The summit focused on global development issues and launched a series of measures to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The summit and its membership expansion have made the BRICS cooperation mechanism more valuable and significantly enhanced its international influence. Through this summit，the BRICS cooperation mechanism has become more closely linked with Africa，demonstrating its original aspiration to promote development. At the same time，the summit will promote the development of the “Global South” in depth，and promote the construction of an equal and orderly multi-polar world and economic globalization that benefits all.
