美国高水平区域国别研究机制建设的经验与挑战——以哈佛大学费正清中国研究中心为例

Abstract:Chinese regional studies are currently in the exploratory and developmental phase，while the regional studies in the United States is relatively well-established. This paper aims to provide insights for the development of Chinese regional studies by examining the historical trajectory of regional studies in the United States and the specific case of The Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University. The successful “four-in-one” model of regional studies in the United States is synthesized from a historical and macroscopic perspective. Moreover，a micro-level analysis of the development model，successful experiences，challenges and difficulties of the Fairbank Center at Harvard University is conducted，offering inspiration for the advancement of high-level regional studies in China.China and the United States face similar challenges in the development of regional studies. We can learn from the US’s exert and exerting it upon China’s practice. Through these efforts，Chinese regional studies can contribute fresh perspectives and intellectual contributions to domestic development and the international community. This aligns with China’s vision of actively engaging in the construction of a shared future for humanity，thereby making substantial contributions to global stability and development.
