Abstract:Circular Economy is a fundamental factor in the ongoing processes that see the international community and individual states heavily engaged in initiatives for the transition to sustainable development. The author provides an overview of knowhow factors that allows the readers to understand the implications and opportunities associated with the shift from the current “linear” model of production，consumption，and growth to a completely different and innovative model，namely a “circular” model. The article illustrates the principles defined at the international and European levels that guide this structural change，the system of rules and regulations that govern it，and the contribution and role of Italy in this transition process. Of particular importance is the presentation of the results of the analysis conducted using the circular economy assessment indicators developed by the “Bellagio Declaration” issued by the “Club of Rome”. These indicators provide the readers with an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the scope of ongoing processes towards a new development model in Europe and Italy.
