Abstract:In order to foster a favorable business environment，the Israeli government maintains a policy of free trade and relatively relaxed foreign investment regulations. For a long time，the government has not established a dedicated agency to oversee foreign investments，nor has it put in place specific overarching legislation，access protocols and a general review mechanism. Reports from various international organizations consistently highlight Israel’s strong appeal to international investors. However，recent developments，set against the backdrop of U.S.-China trade tensions，have prompted the U.S.government to call on Israel to strengthen its scrutiny and oversight of foreign investments，citing national security concerns. In response to the U.S.pressure，Israel established an Advisory Committee within the Ministry of Finance in 2020 to assess foreign investments within the country. For now，this agency seems to have a limited influence，but it may bring some uncertainties to foreign investments in Israel，including those from China，in the foreseeable future.
