Abstract:The Evolution of Japanese Cognition of China：From the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 to the September 18 Incident takes “the construction process of the nation state in modern China” as the starting point，practices the research method of positivism. Using the concept of long-term and holistic history，it attempts to comprehensively and systematically sort out the cognition status of the Japanese politicians，military，financiers，mainland ronin，public opinion，intellectuals and ordinary people on the important events that had great influence and far-reaching significance in China during the period from the Sino-Japanese War to the September 18 Incident，explores the relationship between Japan’s view of China and its policy towards China，providing a new perspective for the study of the history of Sino-Japanese relations. At the same time，the author uses new materials，puts forward new views，tries new methods，and presents a clear awareness of problems and a strong realistic concern.
