Abstract:The automobile industry is a strategic and pillar industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The automobile industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has experienced three development stages：hard start-up，joint adventure and independent innovation in the past，and it is entering the stage of overtaking on curves now. At present，the development of automobile industry in Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area has five characteristics. First of all，the operating income ranks first and the total profit ranks fourth in China. Secondly，the output of vehicles ranks first in China. Cars，SUVs and MPVs have strong competitiveness. Thirdly，the output of new-energy vehicles ranks third in China，and BYD performed well in recent years. Fourthly，the traditional engine technology was replaced by the motor technology，which will increase the possibility of overtaking on curves for the automobile industry. Finally，intelligent connected vehicles are booming. The traditional automobile enterprises and intelligent enterprises are forming powerful combination. The following problems still exist in the development of automobile industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The competitiveness of independent brands is not strong enough. The development of international market remains stagnant. The key auto components and parts still need to be imported. Automobile chips are heavily dependent on imports. Based on the above analysis，this report puts forward suggestions to promote the development of automobile industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Firstly，strengthen the construction of key components and parts industry chain so as to get rid of the risk of being hit in the throat. Secondly，strengthen the integrated development of automobile industry and new infrastructure construction. Thirdly，integrate R & D resources globally to improve the ability of independent innova-tion. Fourthly，actively explore the international market with the help of Hong Kong and Macao. Finally，adjust and improve the talent cultivation system to adapt to the development trend of “new four modernizations” in the automobile industry.
