Abstract:Fiji，the transport hub of the South Pacific region，faces the same challenges on all fronts in 2021 amidst the impact of the COVID-19. Fiji’s politics have generally stabilised，with the largest opposition party，the Social Democratic Liberal Party（SODLPA），moving towards a split following the appointment of a new leader，and the re-emergence of Rabuka as a major variable in Fiji’s political future. The ruling party-led amendments to the Land Bill have revived ethnic tensions in the country. Inflationary pressures have increased，unemployment has risen，international export trade has declined and economic weakness has had a significant impact on the domestic political ecology. With concerted efforts，China-Fiji relations have been stable and influenced by extraterritorial factors，and there are challenges that cannot be ignored.
