Abstract:In 2021，the ASEAN region is still in the dilemma of epidemic prevention and control and economic development，and the economic development situation is full of twists and turns. From the fourth quarter of 2021，the regional economy began to show a trend of stabilization and recovery. Driven by the construction of the BRI，the bilateral trade volume between China and the ASEAN region excluding Singapore has achieved rapid growth，the scale of two-way investment and project contracting has been expanded，key construction projects such as the China Laos railway have been successfully completed，the humanities cooperation has achieved remarkable results，and fruitful results have been achieved in the complex and volatile international environment. In this process，relying on its comparative advantages，Shanghai has given full play to the role of existing multilateral mechanisms，constantly consolidated the political，economic，trade and cultural foundation with ASEAN countries，and effectively promoted the construction of the BRI in the ASEAN region. With the release of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the official entry into force of the RCEP agreement，the construction of the BRI in the ASEAN region will enter a new stage of development，and Shanghai and ASEAN countries will also usher in new development opportunities.
