Abstract:Nordic history，geography，culture，trade，and politics bind the five countries together and contribute to their bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the Nordic as well as international platforms. However，the different geographical，political，security，and economic identities of the countries define their divergent interests in the Arctic region. The updated Arctic policies of the Nordic countries in recent years reflect the existence of many common themes as well as the differences in national priorities for Arctic affairs. Comparing Nordic Arctic policies over time，across countries，and between governments shows how the Nordic countries are constantly adapting their strategies in response to the changing Arctic environment and political situation. As the Arctic statehood of the Nordic countries brings new challenges and opportunities due to melting ice and increased industrial and commercial activities，it is a logical choice to further strengthen Arctic cooperation among the Nordic countries，where a unified position will enable them to better protect their common Arctic interests，take advantage of new economic opportunities，and strengthen the political position of the Nordic countries in regional and even global bilateral and multilateral relations.
