In 2021,Economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is an exceptional case in the influence of the epidemic, cultural exchanges and multilateral cooperation also continued, but there were continuous obstacles in political, diplomatic and security relations. Under the influence of Japan’s policy to China, during the Kan government, the problems of maritime and territorial disputes continued, the problems related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang were prominent, especially the Taiwan issue was brought into sharper focus, historical problems continued to exist, and Japan unilaterally decided to release the Fukushima nuclear wastewater into the sea also caused concern. Although some public statements made by Kishida after his election release the signal of easing Sino-Japan relations to a certain extent, there are still many challenges. In some sensitive issues related to Taiwan and history, maritime and territorial disputes,as well as strengthened security strategy and human rights issues towards China, the Kishida government is still adopting a tough and confrontational policy. China and Japan should cherish and safeguard the improvement and development of bilateral relations, not affected by changes and interferences of the international situations, and jointly build China-Japan relations in accordance with the needs of the new era.
