Abstract:Kiribati’s Traditional Fighting Equipment consist of armours and shark-tooth weapons. Each armour was comprised of a set of overalls and sleeves，cuirass with a high backboard，belt，gauntlet and helmet，which are mainly made by coconut fibre string. Stylistically，the armour is harmonious and vivid. From the model expression，shark-tooth weapons can be divided into four broad categories，daggers，machetes，swords，spears and other polearms，which is mainly made by hardwoods and sharks’ teeth. As to exterior，this kind of weapon looks horrible，elegant and fluent. Women’s hair is the important decorative material. The decoration of Kiribati’s traditional fighting equipment is vivid and functional. In the aspect of craftsmanship，people of Kiribati transform and use the nature flexibly. In terms of creation，they do their best to utilize the nature and integrate their faith into the fighting equipment and make a new idea to modern design.
