Abstract:COVID-19，like the rest of the world，has been the theme of Southeast Asian countries for the year of 2020. The field of culture has been at the frontline of the pandemic aftermath. Both Brunei and Singapore have taken measures of impact and adjustment as response. After the reshuffle of the Singaporean cabinet，Edwin Tong took over the stage and released a Budget 2021. Kementerian Kebudayaan，Belia dan SukanBrunei issued The Strategic Plan 2020-2024，and signed a memorandum with Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development to further strengthen the already close cooperation between the two countries. Brunei took over the ASEAN chairmanship of 2021 in November 2020，and moved into a fifteen-year countdown towards the “Wawasan Negara 2035”，which also embarked Brunei’s more proactive strategy in regional and global issues for better space and greater influence. As to whether the recovery measures should work as planned，fingers are crossed.
