2020年马来西亚华文教育运动与华人文化认同

Abstract:The Malaysian Chinese Education Movement is a unique cultural tradition of the Malaysian society. It is an important factor that prevents the Chinese culture from being assimilated after the independence of Malaysia. It is also the most distinct reflection of the development and changes of the Malaysian Chinese cultural identity. This article firstly reviews the prosperity of the Chinese Education Movement in the 1950s and 1980s and the rise of Chinese cultural identity at that time. Then it focuses on the gradual decline of the Chinese education movement after the 1990s，and analyzes the dilemma of the Chinese cultural identity and the transformation of its construction. It concludes by arguing that the opposition between Malaysian national culture and ethnic culture reflected in the current decline of the Chinese education movement will lead to a change in the form of the Chinese cultural identity—that is，a transformation from the resistive identity to the project identity. This trend of project identity is an identity crisis that calls for an urgent attention.
