Abstract:The silkroad originated more than 2000 years ago, when Zhang Qian travelled to the Western outback. The name “Silk Road” was coined by a German geographer in the 1970s. It is believed to be the first trade route connecting Eurasia and Africe. In addition to its function as a trade route, the Silk Road also provides the foundation and platform for cultural communications, political mutual trust and economic development for 65 countries and regions(2015). As a key region in the national strategy of developing international tourism and leisure centers,Macao has identified Heng Qin as the place where efforts to develop international tourism, cultural heritage and domestic Portuguese culture as the core of the cultural industries should focus. Targeting those customers born after 1990,Macao is hoping that “Spontaneous Tourism”,as a product developing mode, will boost the overall industry. Meantime as cultural tourism is a green industry,low-cost and high-output,it has attracted many countries’ investment and gradually become a new economic growth pole. This research looks at how the “One Belt One Road” initiative can promote Macao’s cultural tourism industry through the adoption of a new model. The goals are to enhance international and regional exchange and cooperation in culture, economy and politics, drive Macao’s economic growth, broaden regional synergy and achieve overall social development, and help Macao address the problems of mono-industry structure, resource scarcity and uneven distribution. “One Belt One Road” will strengthen regional and international cooperation in the economic and trade zone, integrate, develop and utilize resources, boost the development of cultural tourism as a new growth pole, accelerate the formation of cultural tourism industry chain and contribute to the healthy growth of the culture tourism market.
