Abstract:Since the geopolitical upheaval in Eastern Europe and the end of the Cold War，Albania’s political system has been transformed. As a secondary system of the political system，Albania’s party politics has also undergone profound transformations—from the one-party system to a multi-party system. However，the transformations have not resulted in party politics desired by the West. The political party landscape and the relations within and between parties suggest immaturity and instability. Partisan strife and the internal divisions occur from time to time. With the advancement of European integration，new developments in policy，ideology，and relations between political parties have emerged under external pressures from the European Union. As an important mediator，the EU has intervened in and shaped the development of Albania’s party politics and is injecting a force of Europeanization in it.
